Deans Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Deans in Livingston. The school roll is currently 238 pupils arranged in 10 classes, with 32 children in the nursery which is open 38 weeks per year. The Senior Leadership Team consists of a Head Teacher and Depute Head Teacher. The school is staffed by a skilled and motivated team of teaching and non-teaching staff, working together to support and challenge learners across the school. The school works in partnership with Deans High School and cluster primary schools, the Parent Council, and the wider parent forum to ensure the best outcomes for all children and families. We are seeking to appoint a nurturing and motivated pupil support worker to join the team in the nursery. The successful candidate will have a positive approach to working with children by providing general support in relation to children's individual care, health, wellbeing, and safety. The candidate should be solution-focused with an understanding of supporting pupils within an educational setting and how to foster positive relationships. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be required to work effectively as part of our nursery team to support the learning of the children. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. The SSSC stipulates that you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with the SSSC, you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
