The Purchasing Lead will play a fundamental role in the success of the supply chain department, owning and being accountable for the purchasing process. Keeping on top of trends in the market, getting competitive quotes from an established supplier list, and seeking new suppliers when required is essential. Maintaining, evaluating, and supporting supplier relationships using excellent verbal and written communication skills is key to success in this position. Raising and maintaining purchase orders via the ERP system for both sites in the UK is also required. This position offers a path for development. Responsibilities

Place orders generated from suggestions from the ERP system and internal PO requests for both sites in the UK. Chase overdue and upcoming orders for both sites in the UK. Liaise with suppliers to expedite, cancel, or push back orders according to system demand. Maintain accurate records for all purchasing activities ensuring that information is always up to date and correct. Attend both off- and on-site visits with suppliers for audit purposes. Attend daily production meetings and work closely with the Production Planning team. Work with the Queensgate (Paignton) team to ensure demand is satisfied; some travel to Queensgate will be required. Use Lean5S training to actively review the purchasing procedures and work instructions and eliminate any waste in the processes. Be flexible and willing to involve yourself in other tasks as required by the company. Required Skills

Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Proven negotiation skills to secure discounts whilst maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in a manufacturing purchasing environment. Ability to react quickly to changes in demand. Experience with ERP systems. Full clean driving licence. We offer
