Please note this position is a hybrid role, with 2 days a week on-site at our Belfast offices. About Aflac While Aflac is a Fortune 500 U.S. company and one of the largest brands in the US and Japan, there is a very good chance you’ve not heard of us (yet). Here’s the deal: We help people cover medical expenses beyond their standard health insurance, and when they come to us they really need us. So, in Belfast, we’ve been building great technology since 2019 to support our customers in their time of need. Role Context We are looking for a talented tech enthusiast to join one of our efficient engineering teams. Our feature teams are a tight-knit, high-performing group who are responsible for building leading edge solutions in an array of technologies and domains such as Low-code, Web & Mobile, and the Cloud. All the applications and systems we build are designed to accelerate and improve various aspects of our policy holder’s user experience. Key Responsibilities Being right at the heart of the testing lifecycle: developing test plans and test cases, ensuring effective test coverage, executing tests, identifying and logging defects, working with engineers to resolve defects, and supporting regression testing. Functional, workflow, and end-to-end testing of n-tier web applications, including the creation and maintenance of automated tests where it makes sense. Participating in system integration testing with colleagues from multiple global teams. Continually improving engineering and testing processes. Provide best practice, shift-left coaching to developers to promote defensive coding habits. Facilitate example mapping sessions to help build a complete picture of user story requirements. Contribute to the maintenance of CI/CD pipelines. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of automated test scripts. Skills and Experience Below is an overview of the skills and experience we are looking for, but remember, don't rule yourself out if you don't have everything on the list - it's your intellect and your attitude we are really after. Essential 5+ years of IT experience in any client-server design/development. Experience with targeted test automation strategies. Ability to work well within a team environment, maximising the different strengths across the team. Key technology experience of any test automation tools, but preferably Robot Framework and Playwright. Commercial experience of agile testing processes and the DevOps lifecycle. Experience of implementing security standards that meet privacy requirements for web/portal/mobile applications. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Computer Science, Engineering, or STEM subject. Comparable commercial experience will also be considered. Desirable Experience with different types of Agile project delivery. Experience testing cloud data tools such as AWS. Other valuable technologies: Robot Framework, REST-based API testing knowledge, object-oriented concepts, and GIT. So that’s us. Thanks for taking the time to read this far. We look forward to hearing from you if you fancy joining a tech innovation company with the agility of a start-up and the stability of a Fortune 500 U.S. company.
