Description

The SIMSID product has been in development for over 10 years and includes a wide variety of services, including older legacy classic cloud applications through to modern AKS hosted services. We are looking for a motivated and passionate QA engineer to work with the existing Senior QA in the team to understand the entire product estate and provide excellent manual test capability. The successful candidate will be able to work well under pressure and will be able to deal with multiple streams of work in parallel. The candidate will have a strong understanding of how to setup and work with test data and we will be looking for the candidate to help drive forwards the testing infrastructure in the team, both by streamlining the existing manual processes and/or introducing new automated processes. The role will work very closely with Development and Product teams to ensure efficient collaboration, prioritisation and bug management.

Key Responsibilities

Defining test activities required to complete all user stories. Becoming familiar with all areas of SIMSID system. Working closely with Senior QA to execute manual tests in a timely fashion to ensure successful delivery of sprint commitments. Documenting new test plans and filling gaps in older services. Providing support as required to other development teams within the programme. Liaison with Developer and Product colleagues to communicate issues and prioritise accordingly. Define, own and protect test data to ensure that a testing facility is present and working on every environment including live.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

3-5 years in an equivalent manual testing QA role. Experience working under an Agile delivery umbrella in a multi-team programme of works. Ability to articulate issues and their impact found during testing at both a technical and non-technical level to enable appropriate prioritisation. Ability to understand technical requirements, define test criteria and experience of creating clear and concise test plan documentation. Experience with performance and automation testing desired but not essential.
