Quality and Governance Lead for MSK CSS/ Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner - Lower Limb

SK CSS (Musculoskeletal community specialist service) is looking to recruit a Band 8A Advanced Physiotherapist working up to 0.4 wte (15hrs). This role will provide the opportunity to assist in developing a governance structure for the MSK CSS service, in conjunction with the Service Manager, alongside holding a clinical caseload and working at an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) level.
You will be a highly skilled APP with proven triage, assessment and treatment skills within MSK CSS alongside a passion to engage and motivate others to ensure high quality service delivery grounded in a strong evidence base. You will recognise the importance of working collaboratively within the Multi-Disciplinary team as well as have experience of service development.
Effective, patient centred care is an essential need in the current times and this post offers a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering high-quality care to patients whilst ensuring a robust governance structure is in place. You will be well supported by the Service Manager and work collaboratively with them to meet the governance needs of the team. This role is appropriate for those with a drive to engage in research and audit as well as maintain a high level of clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality care to patients who have been referred to the MSK CSS service, utilising skills appropriate to an APP level
To work in collaboration with the Service Manager to deliver a governance calendar appropriate to the needs of service users and team members
To understand the training and supervision needs of the team and wider MSK team and develop a programme that facilitates meeting those needs with guidance and support of the Service Manager
To work collaboratively with members of the team including Physiotherapists and Consultants

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential
Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
MSc or formal post-graduate qualification relevant to specialist field or equivalent
To have undertaken accredited courses which enable work to be performed at Advanced Practitioner level
Significant Post-graduate training in the relevant specialist field: Highly developed specialist knowledge and skills underpinned by experience
Proven track record of CPD in specialist area
HCPC registered
Desirable
Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER) training
Additional training in the ordering and interpretation of radiology and haematological investigations
Post-graduate management / Leadership course
Member of the CSP
Member of a specialist interest group i.e. Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner Network (APPN)
Previous Experience
Essential
Demonstrate clinical leadership within the Physiotherapy Department, including direct supervision and training of senior staff
Ability to demonstrate substantial relevant experience working as a senior and highly specialist physiotherapist in the areas of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and pain management
Demonstrate a very high level of clinical reasoning skills and specialist knowledge
Experience of complex case management
Experience of instigating and interpreting investigations and initiating appropriate plans of care for patients
Experience of formal and informal teaching to colleagues in the Physiotherapy Departments, other AHPs and GPs/Registrars
Develop guidelines, pathways and policies relating to specialist field
Desirable
Experience working directly alongside Consultants and GPs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential
Expert Knowledge of pathology, assessment, diagnosis and management in the specialist fields of orthopaedics, rheumatology and pain
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Understanding of relevant National policies and guidelines relevant to the area
Evidence of own self development through PDP
Evidence of appraising staff
Knowledge of critical appraisal
Ability to work in isolation independently and autonomously
Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
Knowledge and evidence of Audit and Research
Excellent verbal communications skills relating to complex patient needs including those with multiple comorbidities and in high emotional states
Excellent written communication skills, to ensure information is understood by patients, referrers and other appropriate health care professionals.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills to a range of professionals and patients with varying degrees of understanding
Exceptional time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
Able to maintain judgement under pressure
