Quality Director
is to oversee all quality assurance and quality control functions (from raw materials to finished products) at the manufacturing site. This role ensures the factory delivers quality products in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements; meeting customer and consumer expectations. The Quality Director will drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage the quality team, and collaborate with other departments to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency. Key Success Measures KPI management: set, report, and continuously improve key measures of success Key KPIs: Compliance, Quality Alerts and Incidents, Right First Time, Defects, Consumer and Customer Complaints, Initiative Right First Time, and Cost of Quality. Core Responsibilities: QHSE Fundamentals:
Apply, respect, and enforce norms and processes related to hygiene and safety in direct and indirect environments, including the flow of products, people, and machines. Escalate and share identified safety risks in the quality department using safety management tools. Quality Assurance:
Oversee the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards. Ensure all products meet quality specifications before they reach the market. Responsible for approving procedures and specifications. Regulatory Compliance:
Responsible for releasing site-manufactured finished goods on the market. Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international regulations related to cosmetic manufacturing (GMP: ISO 22716, etc.). Stay updated with changes in regulations and implement necessary changes promptly. Day-to-Day:
Ensure that daily direction setting is in place to allow the right activities to be carried out on any given day. Assure raw materials, pack materials, bulks, and finished goods are inspected according to Coty specifications. Investigate consumer complaints and provide feedback to consumer affairs, implementing improvement actions to enhance results. Industrialization of New Products:
Ensure a seamless process from R&D through to industrialization. Supplier Quality:
Assess and resolve supply quality issues. Share quality requirements for new supplier identification with procurement; develop continuous improvement programs with suppliers to contribute to plant service and cost targets. Documentation:
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. RSPO:
Manage RSPO audit and ensure requirements regarding RSPO certification. Manage overhead spend for the QA department. Halal:
Act as a gatekeeper of all Halal regulations, including the delivery of in-house training where relevant. Leading the Team: Team Leadership and Development:
Ensure the right people are in the right roles, monitor performance, and have development plans in place for all team members. Remain Neutral:
Ensure that your team acts as the eye of the customer to get the best out of the site. Leadership:
Act as a member of the leadership team of the site, leading Quality in all areas as a member of this team. Process Repeatability and Non-Quality Costs:
In strong collaboration with production and operational excellence teams, develop and deploy a program and associated action plans to improve process mastery and repeatability and reduce non-quality costs of the factory. Stakeholder Management:
Ensure a strong partnership with other functions for the delivery of the factory’s key results, including R&D, Marketing, Procurement, etc. Change Management:
Ensure that change within the manufacturing site is managed from a quality perspective. Project Management: Define project charters, clear success criteria, planning, and deliver objectives in a timely and quality manner. Key Interfaces: Production Planning Initiative Global QA R&D Marketing Procurement Essential Skills & Experience: 5 or more years of site-based quality leadership experience within cosmetics/consumer goods/medical device/pharmaceutical industries. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations (ISO 22716, etc.), mandatory national standards, and technical specifications. Familiarity with statistical sampling rules (ISO2859). Strong capabilities in root cause problem solving, process control techniques, and change management monitoring. Knowledge of bulk making, production packing processes, and filling techniques. Knowledge and experience in R&D or industrialization of new products. Required Characteristics & Behaviours: Calm under pressure. Able to be decisive and a fearless decision maker.
