What will the role involve? As QEHS Manager, you will lead the way on site, connecting with the vision and strategy within the department. You will ensure that our Melton site complies with all of the Arla Foods’ standards and policies, as well as government legislation and customer requirements related to quality, environment, health, and safety. You will challenge current processes and practices while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Applying the Arla Foods’ management systems on site and carrying out internal and external audits. Contributing your knowledge within relevant projects on site as well as wider QEHS teams within the Arla group. Ensuring continuous improvement within the QEHS team by applying LEAN principles to improvement projects. Ensuring EHS risk assessments of all changes with potential impact on significant EHS areas and driving the safety mindset on site. Responsibility for the development of the food safety-team/HACCP and EHS risk assessment team, and evaluating and resolving major non-conformances. Ensuring a healthy, inclusive, and safe working environment. Taking leadership in developing, anchoring, and being a role model for a lean, safety, quality, food safety, sustainability, digital, and continuous improvement culture. Financial understanding and working within the framework set by corporate finance, as well as being responsible for managing QEHS budgets. Maintaining, monitoring, and reporting QEHS data to site, as well as wider UK and global stakeholders. Coordinating complaints and local crisis management within QEHS as well as handling and resolving customer-related issues. Managing, developing, training, and coaching stakeholders in QEHS themes. Responsibility for laboratories in-house and external partners. Ensuring updated environmental approvals and permits for site and partnering with relevant internal and external stakeholders. What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role: Educated to degree level in Food Science or equivalent (ideally MSc level) with a proven track record as a Technical Manager in a Food or FMCG environment. Excellent people management skills and the ability to lead, coach, and develop your team and influence the site to meet personal and business objectives. Confidence to challenge at all levels across the management team and an in-depth understanding of BRC, customer standards, and audit requirements. A high skill level across leadership, problem-solving, and project management is essential along with the ability to think on your feet and make decisions. Good IT skills are required with knowledge of SAP an advantage. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential, as is resilience and proactivity in a fast-moving environment. You will have strong relationship-building skills; internally with the teams on site, with the internal Arla QEHS community, and external bodies and customers. Want to apply?
