The role As a Quality Manager, you’ll lead a team of Project Quality professionals to support successful execution of several contracts across the business unit which work on low volume, high complexity defence equipment. You’ll be driving Quality performance, compliance, governance, and improvement and will be a key partner in the implementation of our strategy as part of the Quality team and you will use your proven experience to promote and embed quality through the project lifecycle. Day-to-day, you’ll: Lead a Quality team, co-ordinating resource to ensure the projects deliver to plan. Manage the Quality forecast and resource profile. Enable the team to develop their careers and strive for professional excellence via coaching, training and personal development. Guide the team to plan and implement a program of activities, via project Quality Plans, to provide assurance throughout the project lifecycle defined by the customer requirements. Use appropriate means of communicating business flow-downs, strategy, objectives, successes and lessons learnt with the team. Collaborate with project and business area leads to maintain good relationships, plan for future resourcing needs and prevent/resolve risks and issues, promoting the value and impact of Quality across the area of responsibility and encourage sharing of best practice. Build strong customer relationships, so that organisation growth opportunities are supported with a quality, value driven approach. Recognise and act on compliments, complaints and improve customer perception. This role is full time, consisting of 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with travel across a range of internal and customer sites monthly. Experience of the Quality Manager: Excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in the use of them (e.g. APQP, Pareto, FMEA, 5 why’s, 8D, etc.). Experience managing a Quality team across relevant type projects – desirable. Background in a related industry and be familiar with tailoring quality effort to suit the varying demands – desirable. Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organisation – desirable. Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems. Qualifications for the Quality Manager: Degree (or equivalent experience) in quality, science or engineering. Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g., CQI – desirable. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
