Job summary/Purpose

To improve quality assurance and build quality within production, and liaise with other departments, ensuring sites are complying with TW designs, details and standards. Implementing support and development for site teams and trades to ensure a high standard of construction is maintained throughout the build process. Report findings, training and development requirements to the local production team and the UK Head of Production on a regular basis. 

Primary Responsibilities

Site Quality Inspections  

  • Conducting inspections across all sites within a BU on a regular rotating basis ensuring each visit is planned and programmed in with the Site Management and/or trades. 
  • Complete quality reports using a phone/tablet-based app to record findings (Site Audit Pro). 
  • Ensure the Build Quality Checklist (BQC) for the Site Management team and individual trade BQCs are complete. 
  • Ensure the BQC Quality Manager checklist is complete on each site when visiting. 
  • Ad hoc inspections of plots nearing completion to ensure HQI quality is maintained. 

Reporting  

  • Collate and upload relevant findings, reports and photographs in relation to build quality, ensuring the accuracy of weekly reports forwarded to the Production team, contractors and other departments as required. 
  • Ensure any actions from quality reports are distributed and closed out by the relevant Site Management, Trade and/or department. 
  • Attending meetings with Production Directors/Managers to relay key findings which will be used to inform management strategy. 
  • Produce a monthly report to the Regional Board and UK Head of Production summarising any points in regards to quality. 
  • Issue Quality Non- Conformities and follow up on any actions. 
  • Monitor and track the progress of the business’s quality KPIs. 

Cross-Functional Working  

  • Liaising with Site Managers and Commercial over areas of concern or material issues which may result in quality risks. 
  • Liaising with Site Managers, Production Managers and Commercial in regards to concerns with any contractors. 
  • Liaising with Site Management and Technical in regards to issues with any drawings or details. 
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the warranty provider to collaborate on potential areas of concern and build good relationships with inspectors. 
  • Meet with the Head of Customer Service regularly to understand any concerns in regards to quality during the build. 
  • Meet regularly with other departments to feedback and follow up any improvements in regards to quality. 
  • Attend divisional quarterly meetings with the UK Head of Production. 
  • As necessary attend NHBC resolution meetings for technical support. 

Training and Inductions  

  • Coordinate training and development of staff on quality procedures and trade standards. 
  • Responsible for conducting quality training as part of the induction for new site staff and apprentices. 
  • Responsible for identifying training requirements and then coaching and training site management and direct trades in regards to build knowledge and quality. 
  • Undertake Quality Inductions with new subcontractors. 
  • Undertake quality training events with contractors and trades 

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • Excellent Communication Skills, written and verbal 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Problem solving 
  • Time Management – Working to deadlines 
  • Knowledge and experience of building standards and warranty provider requirements 
  • Previous inspection role within the house building industry 
  • IT skills – Microsoft package, and mobile applications 
  • Driving licence
