This family run business has been in operation for almost 30 years, predominately in the residential groundworks sector. They have grown as a business to circa £250m and have satellite offices across the UK. They have a strong reputation with leading House Builders and continue to grow year on year.

About the Role:

Working alongside our production team, you will ensure the contractual control and cost management across a wide range of projects for the region. You will have exposure to the full project lifecycle with involvement from initial enquiry through to project delivery. You will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects relating to the projects whilst achieving the highest standards, ensuring that the strong company values are maintained.

Key Duties & Accountabilities: Understand the principles of safety on sites and projects. Regular site visits and liaising with the production team. Support the Safety Director and Safety team in the application of safety policy and practice. Ensure that any safety concerns are addressed immediately with the support of the safety team and Directors as appropriate. Prepare and review tenders with estimators assisting with understanding the client's requirements and offering value engineering. Provide early cost advice to clients on variations, ensuring only authorised variations are undertaken. Offer technical advice on drawings, ensuring each project has the correct documentation. Manage the end-to-end commercial aspects of the assigned projects to maximise value, collaborating with the Finance and Procurement departments accordingly. Ensure all commercial accountabilities are undertaken in a timely manner, with a high degree of accuracy and measure. Analyse rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events as required. Identify and analyse potential debt risks and negotiate financial reconciliation with 3rd parties to provide reasonable solutions. Forecast monthly and annual profit figures ensuring figures are maintained throughout the lifetime of the project. Build strong working relationships with clients including social networking.

About the Requirements: The ideal candidate will be working within the groundworks and civil engineering industry in a similar role. Candidates should be computer literate with good financial and commercial acumen, and the ability to demonstrate strong communication and organisational abilities. GCSE Minimum 7 A-C / 5-9 including maths and English. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and/or Assistant Quantity Surveyor. General Knowledge of contractual terms within construction. Excellent PC skills, in particular Excel. Strong mathematical ability. Excellent interpersonal skills. Skilled at gathering and interpreting data and information. Ability to produce a range of cost value reports. Take on new concepts quickly. Effective communicator (written and verbal).
