is currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work between our Cambridge and Peterborough Highway Services Contracts, supporting the highways commercial team with various Quantity Surveying practices. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our Commercial Team who are responsible for commercial and contract management on the contract. Both Peterborough and Cambridge contracts are long-term collaborative partnerships between Milestone Infrastructure Ltd and Local City Councils. We deliver a wide range of services from transport planning and design through to construction and maintenance and play a vital role in keeping the cities moving and supporting their ambitious growth aspirations. This particular role is supporting our projects team, which deals with sizable projects ranging from £1m-£22m sourced from separate funding schemes for the contracts. These projects can include complex cycleways, road widening improvements, refurbished and new bridges, new infrastructure, and car parks. Key Responsibilities for a Quantity Surveyor: Assisting the Senior Quantity Surveyor in delivery of the target cost and budget estimate works. Assisting in preparation, procurement, and maintenance of subcontract packages. Cost capture for supply chain & depot delivered works. Assisting in supplying the client with Target Costs and Budget estimates. Working with the Senior Quantity Surveyor to prepare clear and accurate quarterly forecasts for live projects. Preparing early warning notices and CE quotations - experience with CEMAR would be beneficial. Submitting Claims and applications to the client and ensuring payment is received. Assisting in the agreement of final accounts. Risk & opportunity management. Monthly cost and value reconciliation & management. Assisting in the management of the supply chain. Carrying out site visits as and when required. Ensuring compliance with Milestone standards and procedures in respect of commercial activities. Ad hoc commercial duties as the job requires. Essential Skills & Experience for a Quantity Surveyor: Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject. Preferably qualified or working towards CICES or RICS accreditation. Relevant CSCS Card. Strong level of identifiable commercial experience within the construction industry. Good command and communication of oral and written English. Skilled negotiator and communicator. Good people/management/organisational skills. Demonstrable highway maintenance and civil engineering experience, preferably with a contracting organisation. Good knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts. IT proficient, particularly in MS Office. Knowledge of planning software.
