The role:
Following our continued successes in securing local work, we are seeking Quantity Surveyors who are experienced in the Engineering and Manufacturing sectors to join our dynamic project controls team.
You will play a crucial role in managing and controlling various projects and/or maintenance works, ensuring that they align with budgets and project requirements, and are delivered in line with the individual subcontracts/main contracts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract/sub-contract management, cost management, negotiating T&Cs, and reporting, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Main duties will include (but not be limited to):
Review, develop and place orders for various subcontracts utilizing specifications from various sources, such as historical information, engineers, and the design department.
Align to the overall commercial strategy within our clients' operations to ensure goals, targets, and objectives are delivered.
Review scopes of work and carry out gap analysis.
Actively participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards.
Assist procurement in letting of contracts/sub-contracts.
Carry out site visits as required and engage with the site team to drive commercial performance and ensure innovations and improvements are planned, resourced, and being delivered as directed by the line manager.
Supplier down selection and recommendation of award.
Manage subcontracts pre- and post-contract.
Provide accurate live forecasting and cost reporting as required by the individual stakeholders and/or project needs.
Ensure robust project controls and accurate reporting of progress/work done, contractors' responsibilities, change management, payments, risk, and opportunities.
Ensure that proper records are kept so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
Ensure robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and make allowance for all risks and opportunities.
Report any withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs to the Project Manager and Project Board, ensuring that any inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme costs.
Actively seek resolution on disputed or withheld costs.
Key candidate criteria:
Strong commercial experience in Engineering & Manufacturing sectors.
Extensive contract experience working with bespoke/client in-house contracts.
Experience of dealing with operational and project teams.
5+ years post-qualification experience.
