The Role:

As Quantity Surveyor / Estimator, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing the finances of multiple construction projects ranging from £500k to £5m in value across East Anglia, from initial enquiry through to handover, working closely with a variety of clients with full autonomy to deliver works from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed breakdown of build costs for each stage of work across a project base primarily encompassing the residential sector, projects up to £5m in value. Forecast, monitor and maintain cash flow to ensure margins are maintained and projects remain profitable. Keep on top of all variations in work and ensure they are accounted for, with autonomy on decision making as to how best to handle these. Be aware of, assist with and take the lead on key contractual issues that affect works and negotiate in the best interests of the business where needs arise. Procurement of sub-contract works including documentation and compliance in line with project programme. Managing them through to final accounts. Attend and chair regular project meetings with delivery team, senior management and external consultants. Effective communication across all levels with clients, suppliers, external consultants and colleagues through to senior management. Ability to price construction works from first principles and prepare detailed, accurate tenders for submission.

Qualifications & Experience:

A relevant Construction related Degree or equivalent Higher Education course, ideally Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management. Previous experience within the industry in a main contracting environment is critical. Relevant project experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate. Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work. Proven longevity with an established main contractor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
