Job Overview
Due to a strengthening order book, the Collard Group are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and contractual management of our projects, from inception to final account. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for working closely with project teams and support functions to build strong relationships with our clients and supply chain to achieve successful commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Producing applications for payment including valuation of variations and loss and/or expense
Agreeing interim payment amounts with clients, monitoring when payment notices are due/received/outstanding
Preparing project budgets in conjunction with the contracts managers and operations director
Preparing and managing the monthly reporting/CVR process
Monitoring budgets against costs and projections on a monthly basis
Sending subcontractor enquiries, analysing quotations, placement of orders, interim payments & agreement of subcontractor final accounts
Assisting in the production of tenders
Ensuring that we fulfil all our contractual obligations
Advising contracts managers regarding all commercial matters (variations, delays etc.) and ensuring that they are identified and recorded
Undertaking site visits to monitor for possible variations and similar matters and ensuring that site records are produced
Managing and motivating teams, setting clear expectations and ensuring feedback on individual performance is provided both informally and formally where required
Developing, managing and maintaining relationships with key clients to ensure that the company reputation is maintained and enhanced
Preparing and developing concise commercial reports which provide a true overview of contractual performance on a monthly basis reflecting all risks and opportunities.
Skills
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to communicate financial and contractual matters in a clear and concise manner
Understanding of the JCT Standard Forms of Contract and similar
To be an effective communicator and team player at all levels, with the ability to work under pressure
Ability to effectively utilise a range of software including the MS office suite and finance systems.
Experience in a QS role, ideally within the demolition or enabling works sectors
Experience in the placement of subcontract orders and procurement
Degree in Quantity Surveying or professional qualification (MRICS or MCIOB)
Full UK Driving Licence
