Quantity Surveyor - Permanent - Joinery Subcontractor - Ashton-under-Lyne
Are you a quantity surveyor with experience of JCT or NEC contracts and are open to new opportunities on a permanent basis?
We are currently recruiting for the role of Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a specialist joinery subcontractor based in Ashton-under-Lyne, who are looking to add to their commercial team on a permanent basis, with a view to starting the right candidate as soon as possible.
The contractor turns over circa £9m and the projects are valued up to £3.5m, working for tier one contractors on projects across the North West and along the M62 corridor.
Key Responsibilities:
Procuring tender costs from suppliers and contractors. Conducting subcontract tender analysis ensuring rates align with the current market and presenting reports to the senior team and project management.
Managing site materials, placing orders with suppliers and builders' merchants while adhering to budget constraints.
Generating and distributing regular cost reports, providing feedback on procurement targets, variations, and forecast final accounts.
Ensuring all contractual and subcontract management obligations are met, particularly in procurement, procurement reports, measurements and valuations, contractual instructions, notices, and orders.
Assisting in expanding the supply chain by sourcing local subcontractors and utilizing the existing supply network.
Compiling Bills of Quantities / Material take-offs for ongoing projects, collaborating with the delivery team and assisting in material procurement and management on site.
Managing subcontractors, including processing valuation applications and issuing relevant notices within prescribed timeframes.
Ensuring subcontractor valuations are processed promptly with payment schedules issued to management to ensure accurate cash flow forecasting.
Finalizing and agreeing on final accounts.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years PQE as a quantity surveyor in either a subcontracting or main contracting environment.
Degree in commercial management or quantity surveying.
Experience in the commercial management of JCT & NEC contracts.
Commercial awareness and the ability to independently deal with complex projects.
Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
The contractor is looking for someone who is prepared to work office-based but is also willing to travel to site when needed.
Salary is between £45-55k, plus car allowance.
