Salary: £30,000 to £60,000

To manage all the costs relating to the building projects from the initial calculations to the final figures, maximising forecast gross margin. The Quantity Surveyor will assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks through the implementation of in-house policies and procedures, as well as ensuring that projects are achieving and adhering to the required standards and quality as specified by statutory building regulations.

Main Duties:

Procure and appoint sub-contractors including all enquiries, tender evaluation, and placement of orders. Manage subcontractor accounts including managing and controlling changes, allocating work, valuing and processing payments, monitoring subcontractor delivery and performance, and assessing and agreeing variations. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. Administration of the main contract by understanding and abiding by contractual obligations. Providing advice on contractual claims. Final account negotiation and agreement with clients and arranging payments. Preparation of cash flow and turnover forecast and updating them on a monthly basis. Training and mentoring of any trainees or work placements. Working with and developing the knowledge of the company buyer. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Data Protection Regulations at all times. Participate in training and other learning and performance development activities as required. Adopt and promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all work carried out by yourself and others complies with company standards and legislative health, safety and environmental requirements. Undertake any other duty relevant to the position.

Qualifications: Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related degree. 5 years' experience of working as a QS with recognised contractors. Strong technical understanding of the construction industry, including the processes, materials, and methods. Proficient in IT. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Strong communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as a team.
