Play a central role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and profitable. The quantity surveyor is responsible for ensuring subcontract orders are sent expeditiously and in line with the subcontractors' procurement schedule, the project is fully valued, and accurate project reports are prepared for management consideration. You will drive the commercial management of construction projects at any one time with the aim of achieving profitable, prompt, and faultless delivery, and ensuring high standards are maintained. You will be reporting to a Managing Surveyor full-time in the office. Responsibilities include: Measuring, pricing, negotiating, and agreeing on budgets and costs for variations in project scope. Ensuring project costs are correct and raising or resolving queries as necessary. Attending pre-contract meetings and liaising with a wide range of construction professionals. Producing and maintaining up-to-date procurement schedules. Compiling and issuing invitations to tender and analysing subcontractor quotations. Compiling subcontract orders for approval, visiting sites to measure and value completed works. Assessing subcontractor payment entitlements and processing payments. Carrying out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance. Working closely with contract and site management staff to support the smooth running of the office and the site. What you'll need to succeed
A Degree, MCIOB, MRICS or similar from a UK-based college or university and substantial UK-based experience with a main contractor in the building industry. The ideal candidate should possess good IT skills and demonstrate an aptitude for working with numbers, as well as absorbing and analysing technical information. A flexible approach to work and initiative-taking is essential. You must have the right to work in the UK and have references from a UK-based employer. A high level of communication and excellent people skills are required. Candidates from outside the area need not apply as there is no relocation allowance.
