Our client, a specialist commercial and project management advisory consultancy, is seeking highly qualified Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors, and Commercial Managers to join their team on a hybrid/remote basis. The consultancy supports end clients in sectors such as Water, Environment, and Rail, delivering expert advice and management solutions for complex projects. The ideal candidates will be highly skilled, ideally chartered professionals, with relevant experience in the industry. Consultancy or client side experience would be an advantage. Responsibilities (guide only) Quantity Surveyor Assist in the preparation and management of cost estimates, budgets, and contracts for various projects in Water, Environment, and Rail sectors. Support the client in the procurement process, including tendering, contract negotiation, and appointment of contractors. Provide cost management services including cost planning, cost reporting, and valuation of work completed. Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and provide commercial support to project teams. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Assist in the management and administration of NEC contracts, including change control and dispute resolution. Collaborate with senior team members to ensure the efficient delivery of services to clients. Senior Quantity Surveyor Take a leading role in cost management for large and complex projects, ensuring that all commercial aspects are handled effectively. Manage the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for projects within Water, Environment, and Rail sectors. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors and support the development of the team. Lead procurement processes, including tender analysis, contractor selection, and contract negotiations. Oversee contract administration, managing change control, claims, and variations under NEC contracts. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, provide commercial advice, and ensure compliance with project specifications. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and the project team to manage risks and resolve any commercial issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Commercial Manager Take overall responsibility for the commercial management of large, high-value projects within Water, Environment, and Rail sectors. Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to a high standard. Oversee the management of contracts (primarily NEC) including risk management, contract administration, and dispute resolution. Collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure effective project delivery. Provide strategic advice on commercial matters, including cost control, change management, and procurement strategies. Review and approve cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts. Lead negotiations on variations, claims, and final account settlements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for all commercial queries. Essential Qualifications & Skills Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. Ideally, Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent). Strong experience working with NEC contracts (essential for all roles). Experience in the Water, Environment, or Rail sectors is highly advantageous. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact with clients and stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team/with end clients. Flexible approach to hybrid working with occasional travel to client sites. Salary based on experience level and qualifications (range from 40k to 80k depending on the role). Company pension.
