water industry . This is a long-term contract role, outside IR35, offering a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of office-based and remote work. The successful candidate will work on high-profile water infrastructure projects, providing key support to project teams and helping manage costs, contracts, and budgets effectively. Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
Oversee the full cost management process for water industry projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of the project. Contract Administration:
Assist with the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Tendering & Procurement:
Work closely with the procurement team to manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and provide accurate cost estimates. Value Engineering:
Provide cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare accurate reports on project costs, variations, and financial forecasts. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to clients. Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the project, ensuring projects remain within budget and meet deadlines. Client & Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring smooth project delivery. Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a
Quantity Surveyor
or
Senior Quantity Surveyor
in the
water sector
or similar infrastructure projects (e.g., utilities, civil engineering). Strong understanding of
contract law ,
procurement , and
cost management
in the water or utilities industry. Experience with
FIDIC, NEC , or similar contract frameworks. Proficiency in
quantity surveying software
(e.g., CostX, Conquest) and MS Office applications. Strong knowledge of
financial management , including
estimating ,
valuations , and
final accounts . Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Degree-level qualification
in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS or equivalent preferred for Senior Quantity Surveyor role). Outside IR35
contract status. Requirements:
Previous experience in a
Quantity Surveyor
or
Senior Quantity Surveyor
role within the
water industry . Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex projects. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office and remote working.
