This role is a full time permanent position Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week


We are looking for an experienced Quarry Manager who is keen to be involved right at the start of our planning and have a real input into how our quarries operate.

The job role:


As Quarry Manager you will be responsible for the day to day quarry operation across our quarries/pits in the local area. You will lead our team of operatives and on occasion external contractors adhering to the highest levels of health and safety. Key responsibilities include:


  • Leading the team to meet volume and quality targets at the quarry
  • Ensuring that market requirements; EHS; quality; consistency; volume and dispatch promptness are met and accomplished in compliance with SOP
  • Managing the quarry team and technical teams, setting and managing development objectives
  • Budget and cost control whilst striving through continuous improvements to identify methods to reduce costs and improve service levels
  • Ensuring long term and strategic development of the quarry either through direct management of the site’s mineral reserves and resources or working closely with the industrial hubs and other business areas

You will:


  • Hold health, safety and environmental management in the extractive and mineral processing industries and/or NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Actively maintain a record of your Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Have experience of supervising/leading a team
  • Proven knowledge of the Quarries Regulations
  • Knowledge and experience of UK Ball Clays (desirable)
  • Good understanding of SAP procurement, inventory and maintenance models (desirable)
