Qualifying Work Experience via SQE route Entry requirements:

2:1 law degree (minimum) SQE 1 & 2 completed

You can apply for qualifying work experience whilst completing your Masters/SQE 1&2 Assessments but these should be passed before you commence your Qualifying Work Experience, i.e., your Masters/SQE results are received by August 2026 latest. During your 2 years Qualifying Work Experience, we would be looking for a 2-year commitment from you regardless of previous work experience. Becoming a Solicitor at Holmes & Hills Our aim is to recruit Trainees who will be with us beyond their Training Contracts. We therefore look to recruit Trainees who are committed to a career based in East Anglia and at Holmes & Hills. We work in partnership with our Trainees to ensure they receive the best possible training, experiencing a mixture of opportunities and developing their career so they are ready for qualification when the time comes. Of course, we want to retain our Trainees, and this is demonstrated in the number of Solicitors, Associates, and Partners within the Firm who were previous Trainees.

As a Trainee, you will spend time in at least 2 of our 7 offices providing proactive legal services and pragmatic advice to a mixture of public sector, commercial, and individual clients across the region. To ensure you flourish in the role, we will provide you with regular supervision, feedback, and support, enabling you to shape and grow your career at the Firm. From day one, you will be encouraged to contribute, get involved, and will be given responsibility appropriate to the level you are working at. At all times, you will be supported by our experienced fee earners.

We actively encourage our Trainees to get involved in marketing, networking, training, and social events. We have a Junior Lawyers Network which you will become part of, allowing you to network with your peers, exchange knowledge, support you, and gain appropriate non-legal training (commerciality, marketing, networking, etc).

All prospective employees should have the right to permanently live and work in the UK.

Application process: Apply for the role using the Apply For This Job button. Once we receive your application, you will receive an automated email acknowledging your application. This email will contain an Application Form which you will need to complete and return to
