Your new role: We are looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join the Advisory and Wellbeing Team on a full-time and fixed-term contract basis ( 6 months ). The Advisory and Wellbeing Team is a passionate and ambitious team supporting the transformation of Southend and is an integral function within Southend City Council. The team is part of a larger, experienced, and supportive HR Service. They support organisational/transformational change, case management, and support with day-to-day operational matters, providing solid operational advice and support across the council. As a HR consultant, you will provide specialist advice, guidance, and support to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation on a wide range of employee relations matters to ensure successful resolution. You will be responsible for leading the management and progression of your individual casework with minimal supervision and escalation, acting as a subject matter expert, and working collaboratively. This will require excellent organisational skills and attention to detail while applying HR processes and best practices, providing solutions, and making recommendations. What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced HR professional with a strong working knowledge of relevant employment law, policies, and procedures to highlight legal risks, including managing complex employee relations cases, TUPE, redundancy, and restructures, providing options and recommendations. Previous experience of working within a fast-paced HR team that strives to make a difference will be essential. Knowledge of or previous experience with local government policies, procedures, and conditions of service would be beneficial. year 3

(electives) CIPD or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience within an HR environment. You will need to demonstrate and work to the Council’s Values and Behaviours.
