Join us in leading the way at Cheltenham General Hospital Urology Department, now located in a state-of-the-art facility featuring 10 clinic rooms. Here, collaboration is key, with Consultants, Administration and the Managerial team all working side by side. We're looking for a RAPID Prostate Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients through their initial assessment and diagnostic testing for Prostate Cancer as part of our RAPID service. Patients on the RAPID Pathway have been referred by their GP for Prostate Cancer investigations, and the nurse-led RAPID service aims to see these patients and refer them for diagnostic testing within 48 hours of the initial referral. Assess patients with suspected prostate cancer Refer for diagnostic testing where appropriate Refer for Senior review where straight to test is not appropriate Share test results with patients and explain the next steps of investigation Ensure that appropriate diagnostic tests are booked in a timely manner Undertake research activities and lead clinical audits in own specialist area Communicate with a range of other staff of all disciplines, acting as a highly specialist resource including liaison with health care providers both within and outside of the Trust regarding diagnosis and treatment advice Person specification

Qualifications & Experience

Evidence of ongoing professional development and clinical experience Advanced Communications skills course Evidence of managing cancer patients' complex needs Able to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice Level 7 Post Grad Diploma/Master's Degree within relevant specialty or commitment to work towards Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence clinical practice, management, education and research The health and wellbeing of our staff and patients remains the priority of the Trust.
