Our clients have an exciting opportunity for an R&D Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team near Havant. The R&D Engineer will carry out market research and develop new engineering solutions for their clients. Developing industrial mechanical, automation equipment. Duties & Responsibilities: Define product specifications for new engineering research projects. Use engineering principles, calculations, and industry-specific design software (CAD, FEA) for design and analysis tasks. Utilise in house tools such as CNC machines, laser cutting and brake press equipment to design, develop and build prototypes that use moving mechanical parts, AC/DC motors, electromagnetic equipment. Collaborate with various departments (manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing) to ensure product viability and alignment with company goals. Experience of working within mature PLM/NPI processes. Maintain thorough records of research, design, testing, and development activities. Investigate failures, participate in design reviews, modify drawings and/or, prepare work packages for others to carry-out as necessary. Consult with manufacturing and fabrication teams to design and develop tooling and processes. Witness and evaluate results from product testing and analyse impact on design. Ensure the validity of product performance criteria through evaluation of marketing requirements, customer feedback, field research, competitive product performance, latest product standards and application of experience. To carry out such additional responsibilities as may be considered necessary by the Management.
