A medical receptionist is the primary representative of our GP Practice and is responsible for the efficient administration of all related processes in order to support the work of the clinical team. We are a friendly and very busy NHS GP Practice in Heaton, Bolton. We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to work with us at the practice on a fixed term contract for 6 months with a view to the role becoming permanent. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of working in a busy GP practice and will project a positive, friendly image when dealing with patients at the surgery and on the phone. Working pattern: Monday OFF Tuesday OFF Thursday 8am - 6.45pm Friday 8am - 4pm 27.5 Hours Main duties of the job

Reception/Admin Duties: General medical reception duties such as greeting patients, booking appointments and dealing with queries. Actioning tasks received from clinical staff. Administrative and clerical support to clinical and management team. Monitor and respond to emails on the generic practice account. Liaise with external parties such as secondary care, community teams and care homes. Direct patients to appropriate services. Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner. Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff. Registering new patients at the surgery. Explaining the practice procedures to new patients. Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients. Updating the surgeries computer system with appointments and personal details. Receiving urine and blood samples and sending them off to hospital laboratories. Chasing up appointments for patients with hospitals or with other healthcare professionals. Contacting patients to pass on test results/messages to patients as instructed by medical professionals. Arranging prescriptions for patients. Maintaining a clean reception and waiting area to show a professional image. Writing letters and correspondence on behalf of the surgery and medical staff. Covering colleagues during times of annual leave. About us

Heaton Medical Centre & Dalefield Surgery are part of the Chorley Roads network and have a combined practice size of approximately 19,000 patients. There are 8 partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 ACPs, and 2 Paramedics. We have an experienced nursing team and excellent administration team. We are forward-thinking and have a number of ARRS staff including Mental Health Practitioner, MSK, Paramedic, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Dietician and Care Co-Ordinators. You will be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies, and procedures to provide a comprehensive high-quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries. Your regular duties in this role will be dealing with telephone, face-to-face and electronic enquiries, booking and/or amending patient appointments and home visits, contacting patients to provide information from the clinical team and assisting patients to access our services and those available in the wider community. Qualifications

Educated to GCSE Level. Experience

Experience of working in a public-facing role. Experience of working in primary care. Experience of working in a GP practice. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
