Software Engineer Intern

to join Addepar. Engineering is at the core of Addepar, and we are looking to add the best, brightest, and most hardworking software engineers to our team. Our software engineers come from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to finance tech veterans. What they have in common is tremendous talent and dedication to architecting, implementing, and shipping high quality software. The Reference Data team at Addepar is responsible to manage the data reconciliation and curation process for market data providers to build a single source of truth and provide alignment across public and alternative investment data products for the client to manage their investment portfolio. As an engineer on the team you will contribute to increasingly challenging engineering projects with the ultimate goal of enabling solutions and effective use of the data platform. Our engineering team primarily works with PySpark, Python, AWS, Terraform, Java, and Kubernetes. We use Agile methodologies to deliver on business outcomes. What You’ll Do

Own features, work alongside and learn from senior engineers, and ship code. Learn and demonstrate engineering standard processes and principles. Document software functionality, system design, and project plans; this includes clean, readable code with comments. Produce a retrospective and demonstrate your summer project to an internal audience. Who You Are

Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution (university must be located in Scotland) & must be returning to school after internship Available to intern for the full 12 weeks Extraordinary talent in software engineering. Ability to write high quality object oriented code Excellent written and verbal communication skills Solid understanding of development standard processes and experience working in a team Ability to explore complex problems spaces objectively from multiple points of view Ability to learn in a fast paced environment General familiarity with some of the technologies we use: HTTP, REST and web API standard processes. Java, Python, React, MySQL, Kafka Linux proficiency, basic shell scripting and a solid grasp of systems level programming is a plus Specific experience in or knowledge of financial data systems is a plus Interest in building data pipelines and in working with Big-data Proficiency with relational databases
