We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our team as a Refugee Families Resettlement Officer. This position is based in Penrith. This is an exciting opportunity to work creatively with families to support them to improve their individual situations. This will include working with local communities and the Third sector to assist in their resettlement within the Westmorland and Furness area.
As a Refugee Families Resettlement Officer, you will improve outcomes by providing practical support and guidance to newly arrived families as well as supporting and advising families who have a longer resettled history.
You will develop a holistic, innovative approach to achieve positive resettlement goals through casework, signposting, community drop-in events and group work.
Who we are looking for
The right candidate will have an interest in different cultures and faiths and understand the challenges and opportunities resettlement presents. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in order to improve education, employment, health care and mental health outcomes for families and individuals.
We are looking for individuals that can also demonstrate:
Understanding of the reasons that lead to refugee status and the differing cultural needs of individuals and families
Experience of working with families and/or young people and communities and other service providers
A knowledge of the Early Help process
Qualifications at NVQ Level 3 or above (or equivalent) in Children’s, Community or other relevant workforce.
Ability to produce clear written reports detailing your work with families and an ability to maintain electronic records taking into account data protection legislation
To be self-motivated and able to demonstrate personal autonomy with the ability to work under pressure whilst effectively prioritising work.
To hold a current valid Driving Licence and be mobile in order to address the demands of the service across the wider Council area on a regular basis.

DBS
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with Children.
