37 Hours Per Week, 05:00 - 17:00 Role Overview: As a Refuse Collector, you will be an essential member of our waste management team responsible for collecting and disposing of residential and commercial waste. Your role will contribute to maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings and ensuring the well-being of our community and environment. This physically demanding yet rewarding position involves working outdoors and requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities: Collect waste from designated routes, following established schedules and routes. Load waste into collection vehicles manually or using mechanical equipment. Sort recyclable materials from general waste and place them in appropriate containers. Assist in the unloading of waste at disposal sites or recycling centres. Operate waste collection equipment, such as compactors and lifting mechanisms, safely and efficiently. Collaborate with other team members and drivers to optimize collection routes. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure work environment. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly. Communicate with residents and businesses regarding waste disposal guidelines and regulations. Maintain a respectful and professional demeanour while interacting with the public. Qualifications and Skills: A Standard Driving Licence is Essential Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy lifting and repetitive tasks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Effective communication skills to interact with team members and the public. Basic numeracy skills for route planning and record-keeping. Knowledge of waste disposal regulations and safety procedures is advantageous. Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is beneficial but not required.
