Role Overview: As the Regional Design Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the design management function across the South West and South East regions. Managing a team of Design Managers, you will ensure that projects are designed and delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting pre-construction and project delivery, ensuring alignment between design intent, client expectations, and construction execution. This senior-level position is based in Hertfordshire, with occasional travel to the company's projects in the South West. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Team Management: * Lead and manage a team of Design Managers across the South West and South East regions. * Provide mentorship, training, and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality design solutions. * Foster collaboration and strong communication between the design team, site teams, and other departments. Design Management: * Oversee the coordination of all design activities during pre-construction and construction phases. * Ensure design documentation aligns with project requirements, technical specifications, and building regulations. * Manage design risks, identifying and resolving issues that may impact project delivery. Client Liaison: * Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders regarding design matters. * Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure their expectations are consistently met or exceeded. Project Oversight: * Support the delivery of high-specification projects, ensuring design integrity throughout the lifecycle. * Work closely with the project teams to integrate design with construction processes. * Review and approve designs, ensuring compliance with quality standards, budgets, and schedules. Strategic Contribution: * Collaborate with the Operations Director and other senior leaders to improve design management processes. * Contribute to business development by supporting tendering and bid processes with design expertise. * Monitor industry trends and innovations to keep the company at the forefront of high-end construction and refurbishment. Key Requirements: * Proven experience in design management, ideally within the high-spec residential construction and refurbishment sector. * Demonstrable track record of managing and leading design teams across multiple projects and regions. * Strong understanding of building regulations, technical specifications, and construction processes. * Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. * Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Willingness to travel within the South West, South East, and occasionally to London.
