Registered Manage Children's Residential Home Area: Downpatrick, Northern Ireland Contract: Full Time (Maternity Cover for 3 Months) Salary: £45,448.00 per Year + Extra Shifts Paid as Overtime Background Information Our client provides a service for vulnerable and complex traumatised young people within residential care. The aim is to support children and young people with complex needs in an individualised, therapeutic residential setting. The mission of our client focuses on providing care that nurtures stability and positive outcomes for young people, with values centred around being supportive, responsive, passionate, professional, and united. The young people in the service can sometimes display challenging behaviours. The service is committed to understanding that all behaviour has meaning and takes a trauma-informed, empathetic approach to meeting the needs of the young people in our care. Job overview This role requires the Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, fostering a positive environment for both staff and young people, and providing leadership in the care of young people with complex and trauma-related needs. General Responsibilities As a Registered Manager, your general responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Providing a caring service and treating all individuals with respect and courtesy. Ensuring the safety of young people, staff, and the public in the delivery of care services. Leading a strong and positive team culture, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage for the home. Facilitating team meetings, staff inductions, and supporting staff performance through direction and coaching. Completing risk assessments and updating Positive Behaviour Support Plans, as well as identifying strategies to support staff in their work. Monitoring and reviewing incident data and ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained. Leading incident reviews and role-modelling best practices for staff. Attending multi-agency meetings with relevant stakeholders, including family members and external professionals involved in the care of young people. Providing on-call support on a rota basis for staff members. Managing the day-to-day care aspects within the home, including care planning needs for each young person. Ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations, standards, and policies and addressing performance issues when they arise. Reviewing shift reports and case handovers to ensure quality care delivery. Supporting the recruitment process, including participation in interviews and ensuring staff meet the necessary qualifications and training. Leading efforts to achieve and maintain the highest standards of care, including striving for an outstanding regulatory rating. Demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to the ongoing development of the organisation. Pay and Terms and Conditions Salary: £45,448.00 per year Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week), with flexible working hours required, including sleepovers and shift work Holidays: 33 days per year, including bank holidays Essential Skills and Qualifications Essential: A third-level qualification in Social Work (or equivalent) for registration as a manager in Northern Ireland. Desirable: Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification. Experience: 2+ years working with traumatised young people, ideally in a 1:1 setting. 2+ years managing staff, ideally within a registered children's home. Experience working with regulators such as RQIA. Knowledge: Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and local frameworks in children's services. Additional Requirements: Ability to be on-call for a minimum of four days a week. Hold a valid UK Driving License with no more than three penalty points. Enhanced DBS/Access NI check required. Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Part 1). Key Competencies Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop staff.
