As the Registered Manager, you will lead a children's residential home in Sutton Coldfield, ensuring the welfare and safety of young people while maintaining compliance with regulations and achieving an Ofsted rating of good or outstanding. You will oversee all operational aspects of the home, manage staff, and ensure adherence to care plans, risk assessments, and statutory requirements, while creating a nurturing environment for the children. We are a newly established company and have appointed a Responsible Individual with experience from an industry-leading care home, supported by a robust financial and legal team. Our plans include building a strong organisation where staff are not only rewarded but also given opportunities for personal and professional growth. Duties Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and maintain an Ofsted rating of good or outstanding. Promote children’s welfare, safeguarding their wellbeing at all times. Create a positive physical and emotional environment for children and young people. Provide personalized care and involve children in decisions affecting their care. Develop, audit, and maintain Care Plans and Risk Assessments for each child. Lead and supervise the staff team to foster a nurturing culture. Plan and organize activities, holidays, and events based on individual children’s needs. Conduct staff supervisions and annual appraisals. Manage the home’s budget and financial records in line with policy. Ensure upkeep and maintenance of the home’s buildings, fixtures, and grounds. Complete all mandatory training during the 6-month probationary period. Oversee mandatory staff training within statutory timeframes. Keep the Operations Team updated on safeguarding and compliance issues. Obtain and retain Ofsted registration and comply with terms of registration. Maintain registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service via the Update Service. Skills Leadership and Team Management – Ability to lead, develop, and support a team effectively. Safeguarding and Child Protection – In-depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of children. Regulatory Compliance – Strong understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and maintaining Ofsted standards. Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Excellent skills to engage effectively with children, staff, and external agencies. Organisation and Attention to Detail – Proficient in managing care plans, risk assessments, and operational tasks with precision. Possess or be prepared to work towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management to become qualified within 2 years of appointment.
