Ainslie ward at Torbay Hospital is recruiting for full and part-time Senior Healthcare Support Workers to join our fast-paced Trauma and Orthopaedic ward to provide the highest achievable standard of care following the patients' assessment of needs. We are a 26-bedded trauma ward that provides you with the opportunity to work alongside our Multi-disciplinary teams to provide the highest standard of care to patients who often require surgery due to a wide range of injuries. You will work effectively and without direct supervision alongside Registered Nurses/Practitioners within the ward as required on a daily basis. In your role, you will be supported with your development needs both from in-house training and also from external courses whilst having regular supervision and appraisal to ensure you are helped to reach your maximum potential and development. Providing, managing, and coordinating your allocated patients' care needs Liaising and communicating with your patients' next of kin, family, and carers Administering oral/IV medications Admitting, carrying out assessments, and discharges Wound care Observations Communicating efficiently and professionally, both verbal and written, updating and involving your surrounding team with changes occurring throughout your shift Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team About Us

The team is made up of a Senior Sister, Junior Sisters, Trauma Coordinators, Band 5 Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, and Health Care Assistants. We are also proud to have ward-based Hotel Services and two Housekeepers, all of whom work well together providing the team spirit we enjoy and feel safe with. NMC Registered (Level 1) Adult Nursing. Interest in or experience of specialist surgery: Trauma and Orthopaedics Knowledge and Experience

Evidence of meeting revalidation, specialist surgical skills, and mandatory training requirements Knowledge of clinical governance and how they are key in patient safety and assessing risk Awareness of the NHS plan and current initiatives that affect us, particularly in the South West Peninsula Disclosure and Barring Service Check
