We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Haemodialysis who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. You will be joining an experienced renal team who has extensive experience in developing the workforce to manage renal units. The Renal Team will be providing the clinical management of patients requiring dialysis hosted by PAH and around the area in Harlow. The East and North Herts Trust (The Lister renal unit) has a proven track record of successfully developing and managing Renal Dialysis Units at Stevenage, St Albans (SACH), Bedford, Luton and Dunstable hospital and Harlow (PAH). Spanning over two decades, our experience in dialysis, innovative research and treatment concepts has earned us national and international recognition. You will work as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team in renal. You will demonstrate a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills required to care for renal patients. This includes the delivery of care to all patients receiving renal replacement therapy in the haemodialysis units, on the nephrology ward and in home therapies. Main duties of the job

Recognises and reflects on barriers to effective communication and modifies communication in response. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of patients from admission (or before) to discharge, with the involvement of patients and their relatives/carers. Participate in internal shift rotation in order to provide 24-hour patient care. Participate within a team of nurses and support workers in providing continuity of patient care. Assist in maintaining good communication links with the Multidisciplinary Team, Specialist Nurses and all other relevant personnel. Develop competence and skills required in order to safely use and maintain equipment utilised in the management of renal patients. Develop competence in haemodialysis skills, such as cannulation, evaluation of patient access, and patient fluid assessment. About us

Qualifications

First level nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register, educated to diploma level. Willingness to successfully complete clinical post-registration education to include a recognised renal course and mentorship qualification. Commitment to lifelong learning. Relevant post-registration recognised renal course. Recognised mentorship qualification. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Previous Experience

Previous experience of working in a ward or care environment. Currently working in a renal setting or acute ward environment. Experience of supporting students and/or Clinical Support Workers. Skills

Ability to communicate effectively - excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department. Ability to use negotiating skills in a positive manner to influence change within the department. Ability to liaise and work with the multidisciplinary team, making recommendations to enhance the smooth running and management of the unit. Representing Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in their absence. Understanding of scheduling and capacity. Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet department expectations. Knowledge

Awareness of current developments in pre and post registration nursing. Understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues. Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives/innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety. Computer literate - relevant to renal department. Understanding of expenditure and budget management. Other requirements

Motivated to take on increasing responsibilities within sphere of practice. Experience and evidence of engagement around equality, diversity and inclusion issues in relation to policy, service development and service delivery in respect of both services to users and the management of staff.
