We actively support professional development, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain specialist ophthalmic knowledge and skills to deliver patient care to adults and children with a diverse range of chronic and acute eye conditions. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to expand their scope of professional practice and participate in a variety of interesting nurse-led clinics. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to the delivery of high-quality patient-focused care and be able to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team to promote service needs. Evidence of clinical and professional development, participation in evidence-based practice, and an ability to work under their own initiative is required. Previous ophthalmic or outpatient/pre-assessment experience would be an advantage; however, candidates who demonstrate a genuine interest will be considered, and training will be provided.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Registered Mentor Experience

Interest in Ophthalmology Previous experience in an Ophthalmic setting SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY

Mandatory training. Basic knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and physiology, ophthalmic conditions, their treatments, and the equipment involved Basic leadership skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to manage the workload of other staff. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Prepared to work flexible shifts according to the needs of the service (including weekends) Ability to cover/change shifts at short notice You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
