Job summary We are looking to recruit a diverse, dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join Ridgeway into Group 2 male recovery and rehabilitation pathway for medium secure services. Working closely with our external partners and stakeholders to ensure the right care in a timely manner to this patient group. From education and prevention to crisis and specialist care, our talented and compassionate teams work in partnership with our patients, communities, carers, and partners to help the people of our region feel safe, understood, believed in, and cared for. This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process. Main duties of the job Our vision is to provide a centre of excellence within secure inpatient care that is busy and rewarding, where you will practice a full range of psychiatric skills and interventions from assessment, treatment, and recovery. You will have opportunities to develop professionally and expand your professional portfolio through PDP and extensive training opportunities. We are looking to attract experienced registered mental health and learning disability nurses to embark upon and develop the Autism pathway within Ridgeway Hospital. The team will consist of a range of multi-disciplinary professions and will provide high quality care and treatment to patients with Autism and/or a Learning Disability. The team will work with internal and external partners, including working collaboratively and closely with prison colleagues, probation, and existing services within Ridgeway Hospital. You will need excellent communication skills and a teamwork ethos. The position requires shift work, including occasional nights, on a rotational basis. There will be opportunities within the role to develop competence and knowledge enabling career progression within the service. About us Ridgeway provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability, or autism who exhibit behaviours of concern to others and to themselves. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings and has links to High Secure services and prisons. The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning, and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner. Qualifications Essential Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Experience Essential Working with people with mental ill health/learning disabilities Working in a person-centred therapeutic organisation Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers Working in a multi-disciplinary team Working in partnership with other agencies Knowledge Essential Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field. Understanding of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act) Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice Clinical Governance and its application in practice. Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
