Registered Nurse – Surgical Assessment Unit

·
Full time
Ipswich Hospital is looking for dynamic, motivated, and experienced nurses with acute hospital experience to join our Surgical Assessment Unit.

Registered nurses are a key part of our ward teams and support the senior team in providing high-quality care.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our friendly and busy teams who are motivated in promoting the delivery of a patient-centred, clinically effective, and dynamic service to our patients undergoing a surgical procedure. We are dedicated to developing our staff and there are various opportunities to continue to develop skills and a career pathway with the NHS.

The Surgical Assessment Ward consists of an assessment unit and ward area with an assessment room and short stay surgical inpatient beds. This is an exciting time to join as the surgical assessment unit is currently undergoing a refurbishment.

The unit is part of the same day emergency care (SDEC) programme where we deliver rapid assessment of patients including diagnostic and treatment without being admitted to a ward. They can then go home on the same day if it is clinically safe to do so.

Main duties of the job

The ward works very closely with many members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that we are equipped to meet our patient's needs.

You will undertake patient assessment to determine patient need, plan and implement their care. It is therefore essential you can demonstrate a commitment to effective team working and have excellent communication skills.

We are committed to upholding the Trust values and strive to enhance the patient's clinical journey by ensuring the patient is at the centre of their care.

About us

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics, and in patients' own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals, we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata), and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offers a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what's widely regarded as the world's best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
