A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The Urology unit is looking for a caring, compassionate, and motivated individual to join our team of Consultants, Doctors, Nurses, and admin staff. We have the privilege of providing care for a variety of patients and work closely as a team across the bay to ensure all patients receive exceptional care. The main duties of the role are assisting in the smooth running of Urology out-patient clinics and supporting patients in their outpatient pathway. New staff must be willing to learn new skills and ways of working to enhance their own development and benefit the department. This role will require the ability to communicate and empathise with people living with Urological conditions. A successful candidate would need the ability to be considerate and compassionate in sensitive situations. The following outlines the main duties:
Assisting in the smooth running of out-patient clinics
Being the main registered nurse on site
Responsibility for audits and health and safety
Responsible for daily checks on the unit, including crash trolley
Reporting any non-compliance, e.g., broken equipment or failure of audit
Communication and emotional support of the patient
Supporting a one-stop clinic by navigating the patients through tests and procedures
Supporting Consultants and Doctors with their independent clinics
Carrying out a flow test for a patient (with training)
Maintaining a safe, clean and healthy working environment
Accurate documentation and communication
Utilising trust and unit specific IT systems
Performing clinical skills with suitable training, such as assisting a flexible cystoscopy list, taking bloods, and supporting urodynamics studies
Responsibility and training of junior staff
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
