Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust Neonatal Unit The Neonatal Unit, Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust has a 22 cot, Level Two Local Neonatal Unit (including 3 intensive care cots, 5 high dependency cots, 15 special care cots, and a 5 cot transitional care unit). We admit approximately 450 babies annually and are dedicated to delivering high-quality, family-centered care to sick and pre-term infants. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Neonatal Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic Neonatal Unit. We are a busy, high-volume unit, admitting around 450 babies. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, family-centred care to sick and pre-term infants, ensuring that we meet the needs of our diverse population. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Neonatal Unit, ensuring that patient care standards and safety protocols are maintained. Act as a role model for clinical practice, providing guidance and support to junior nurses, allied health professionals, and other team members. Contribute to service development and transformation within the unit, ensuring continuous improvement and adapting to the changing needs of the population. Participate in training and development activities, including providing supervision and mentoring to staff. Collaborate with Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Neonatal Community Outreach Nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless care experience for babies and families. Ensure that all care provided aligns with local and national guidelines, policies, and best practices. Qualifications Essential Professional Qualification. Registered Nurse/Registered Childrens Nurse. Post graduate qualification in relevant area of practice / commitment to undertake degree programme. Recognised Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to undertake. Evidence of continuing professional development. Newborn Life Support Qualification. Desirable Preparation for Mentorship/Support Learning in Practice qualification or equivalent. Evidence of MSc level study or working towards. First degree in health-related subject. Experience Essential Significant post registration experience. Evidence of clinical and professional expertise underpinned by knowledge acquired through CPD. Ability to apply audit and evidence-based nursing practice. Experience of leading innovation and change. Experience of clinical teaching and/or supporting students in practice. Desirable Experience of classroom based teaching. Other Essential Ability to work in clinical environments where exposure to heat and body fluids are encountered. Ability to satisfy Occupational Health Screening. Desirable May be required to support patient moving and handling and manoeuvres.
