Main duties of the job
To provide care to women and their babies in the operating theatre, maternity recovery area and postnatal ward. Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care working collaboratively with midwifery colleagues. Prepare and assemble theatre equipment and instruments when required. Ensure safety of the environment including stock levels and storage of equipment and medicines. Provide support to students/learners within the unit. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members in maintaining standards of woman-centred care in relation to perioperative, postoperative and postpartum management while adhering to maternity policies and guidelines. Maintain a high standard of professional expertise to ensure safe and evidence-based care is provided in the specific area.
