As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) joining our Village, you will: Maintain current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Have existing Heart Save Level of CPR. Demonstrate an ability to prioritize tasks effectively, properly plan for, and allocate the right amount of time and effort to complete tasks. Remain calm and manage stress appropriately. Deliver safe administration of medication and treatments with a focus on accuracy, quality and meeting our residents’ quality of life requests. Follow plans of care in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Charge Nurse or Village leadership team. Have an understanding of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the Long-Term Care sector, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA) of Ontario. Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents. Work as a key member of our Village and Neighbourhood multidisciplinary team to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care. Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician during weekly rounds and update care plans accordingly. Have proficient communication and computer skills in order to update care plans in the current system. Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role. Proven alignment with our organizational vision, mission, and values. It would be an asset if our new Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) has: MDS credentials. Experience working with people living with Dementia. Knowledge of the palliative assessments scale. Comfortable supporting residents and their families during end of life care. Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector.
