Working Hours:
4-day week, 10 hour working shifts (7.30am-6.30pm, 8.00am-7.00pm, 8.30am-7.30pm), totalling 40 hours. 1 hour lunch break. Equal rota for daytime in-patient care and help with emergencies over weekends and bank holidays. 2 days off in lieu of any weekends worked. No out-of-hours, except to act as “last resort” backup to dedicated emergency team on a rota. This is very rarely used.
Requirements of the Registered Veterinary Nurse:
Must hold a relevant qualification in veterinary nursing (e.g., Level 3 Diploma or a degree in Veterinary Nursing). Must be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) or equivalent governing body. Relevant clinical experience working in a veterinary practice or hospital. Proficiency in general nursing duties such as patient care, administering medication, and monitoring anaesthesia. Experience in handling various animal species (small animals, exotics, or large animals, depending on the practice). Knowledge of animal anatomy, diseases, and treatments.
