This opportunity is for paediatric nurses to join our emergency department, based at Musgrove Park in Taunton.

We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised. There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly over a rota basis which does include nights and weekends. We have full time and part time hours available.

You will require good communication skills, a teamwork approach and be able to provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team.

Main duties of the job

As a Paediatric Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will:

Provide high-quality care to paediatric patients in emergency situations. Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care for children of all ages. Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, healthcare assistants, and specialists. Ensure family-centered care is provided and offer emotional support to parents and guardians. Participate in the assessment and management of acutely ill and injured children. Be part of a supportive, professional, and passionate team committed to delivering the best outcomes for paediatric patients. Contribute to continuous improvement and participate in clinical audits and training.

Qualifications

Essential Royal College of Nursing Diploma and working towards or willing to work towards degree level.

Desirable Teaching/Mentorship Qualification.

Experience Desirable Emergency Department-focused skills

Additional Criteria Essential Willingness to use technology to improve standards of care and support to our patients. Empathy when giving sensitive information. Influencing and persuasion skills. Decision-making skills. Confident and able to relate to staff, patients and relatives in a professional manner relevant to the environment. Aware of accountability for own professional actions. Maintain NMC registration by undertaking minimum clinical hours and work within the NMC code of professional conduct.
