Full time permanent Location: York Salary: £29,659 to £33,232 per annum Introduction to YSJ University

Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider. Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging. The Team

The Student Returns and Data team sits within Registry, part of the Student and Academic Administration directorate. The team is responsible for the preparation and submission of student-related statutory returns (including HESA student, aggregate offshore, and initial teacher training (ITT), and the individualised learner record (ILR) for the ESFA). The team is also responsible for the associated data management, maintenance, and quality assurance in the University’s student records system (Tribal SITS). You will play a key role in these returns and supporting the work of the team. The Role

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual who can bring strong skills and new ideas to a hard-working, close-knit team that promotes a mindset of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will take the lead on ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity and timeliness of statutory data returns. This will require the ability to perform complex data interrogation and manipulation using databases and spreadsheets. You should have experience and knowledge of making external data returns, ideally in the HE sector. You will also have experience in developing strong links with colleagues across a large organisation, as you will be working collaboratively with others to develop processes that will ultimately improve the student experience. Required Skills and Experience

Your skillset will blend both the technical and inter-personal, and you will view each challenge as an opportunity to identify ways to improve processes. As you will often need to balance multiple projects and work on complex issues to meet tight statutory deadlines, we are seeking someone who will both take responsibility for independent working and working closely with others. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are key to the success of this role as you will need to work with colleagues across the University and present and explain statistical data to non-data specialists. Additional Information

Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship however, we welcome your application if you are able to evidence the right to work in the UK via an alternative route. Registry, in partnership with Innovation and Technology Services (ITS) and Human Resources and Organisational Development (HROD) has agile working. The role is full-time (37 hours per week) and contractually based at the University campus, but the role-holder will have the opportunity to choose a working location/pattern depending upon what they are doing. This will include some time working on campus and some time working from home. It is anticipated that the selection process will include a panel interview. Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted for interview. Closing Date:
