We are seeking to recruit a qualified, registered Rehabilitation Engineer to join our integrated clinical team. You will be conducting assessments with our NHS Wheelchair users in various settings within the surrounding areas ensuring outstanding customer experience is maintained throughout. You will showcase an empathic and resilient approach when faced with challenging situations with the ability to work collaboratively with our customer service, logistics, and the wider clinical teams. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of patients with a range of permanent wheelchair mobility, postural, and pressure relief needs. You will ensure best practice is maintained throughout whilst receiving professional guidance from the Clinical and Service Leads. Main duties of the job

Hold, prioritise, plan and organise your own caseload of service users, some of whom will have complex needs Provide high quality, service user focused assessment and prescription of manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, buggies and seating Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines whilst promoting best practice and undertaking all aspects of clinical and technical duties Provide clinical and technical advice to other members of the team Possess competence within the specialism of wheelchair services, underpinned by background theoretical knowledge and experience Supervise and allocate work to rehabilitation assistants and rehabilitation engineering technicians About us

Skills and Knowledge

An understanding of clinical governance Competent with a range of hand and power tools Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to current practice Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills (in English) Time management and organisational skills Ability to use initiative and work independently without direct supervision Car driver with a license valid for the UK Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel effectively. Knowledge of 24 hour postural management and its impact on wheelchair and seating provision Knowledge of pressure ulcer avoidance and management Use of electronic patient record systems Audit and research/evaluation Access to a private vehicle for work purposes Qualifications

HNC or HND or degree in engineering or equivalent RCT or AHCS registration Member of relevant special interest group Experience

Problem solving within a practical context Working within a wheelchair service setting Measuring and monitoring own performance and that of others Working in the community Interdisciplinary working Working to targets Personal competencies, attitudes and qualities

Creative and resourceful in solving clinical and technical problems Ability to respond positively to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions Ability to remain calm and professional with service users who may be emotionally and physically distressed Self-motivated and keen to develop self and team Exhibits behaviours in line with AJM Values Assertive, credible and proactive Disclosure and Barring Service Check
