Agile, Release Train Engineer (RTE)

role coordinating critical delivery with an important customer. Your role will be essential in the ever-increasing need to protect our national security through the development of software applications in an Agile environment to collect data, analyze it and allow our customers to make informed decisions. Your Responsibilities: Proactively work with and support customers in an Agile advisory/coaching role and assurance capacity. Inspire stakeholders, leadership, and delivery teams to deliver upon their commitments that contribute towards the success of the mission. Actively facilitate, coach, and support team-of-teams events (e.g. Program Increment Planning) and support individuals in key roles and activities such as roadmap development, priority, and facilitation to ensure that the relevant objectives are achieved. Identify and help customers address systemic impediments to the adoption of an effective Lean/Agile working culture, e.g., encourage collaboration between teams, drive continuous improvement via inspect and adapt, problem-solving workshops, facilitation, and coaching of scaled agile ceremonies like architectural & product owner Sync. Provide training to impart or reinforce knowledge of Lean-Agile concepts, tools, and practices. Act as a coach and mentor in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets to less experienced Lean-Agile practitioners, Customers, Partners, and Senior leaders. Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Release Train, supporting the management of risks and dependencies through escalating, tracking, and removing impediments. You will support key stakeholders, primarily the Technical and Business Release Managers to ensure continuous deployment and release on demand. Your Experience: Five plus years’ experience of servant-leadership in Agile teams and environments with an ability to engage and influence stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership roles. Extensive experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe, LeSS), preferably as an RTE or similar experience coordinating and leading large-scale business planning, prioritization, and objective-setting events. Evidence of transforming and building high-performing teams, placing Agile Values at the core to promote autonomy and empowerment; using your thorough knowledge of Agile practices and techniques to achieve successful outcomes. Leading, organizing, and facilitating large-scale events with an ability to communicate your vision and mission clearly, ensuring alignment between numerous teams e.g., Product Increment Planning events. Experience of operating in challenging and fast-paced environments. You will have held a leadership role, are experienced at managing people, and can demonstrate how you have transformed a work environment and culture. About you: You will be passionate about ‘what we do’ and the purpose of our industry. You will be a person with brilliant interpersonal skills and high levels of emotional intelligence that allows you to read a room and build rapport easily with stakeholders (Partners, contractors, customers) at all levels. You will be a person who is values-driven, who provides and expects high levels of trust. You will have excellent negotiation skills; someone who works intimately with a customer and other key roles to negotiate expected outcomes based on capability and programme capacity. You will be an inspirational leader – someone who is able to grow and maintain team(s) confidence and morale when times are challenging. You will be a person who is comfortable with ambiguity and prepared to step up and lead as and when required for the benefit of the mission, customer, and delivery teams. Qualifications: Advanced certification in Agile-at-scale framework e.g. SAFe SPC, RTE, LeSS.
