Job Description

JOB PURPOSE Monitor, investigate and report machine reliability. Identify machine improvements for machine safety, obsolescence, maintainability and reliability. Daily technical support to machine crews and field maintenance. Hands-on investigation and solution to arising problems. Qualifications

Qualifications & Managerial Experience Minimum HND/HNC in relevant engineering discipline or Bachelor's degree. Must be numerate. Technical Skills

Prefer: Wide engineering experience (electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical). Experience with design tools such as Solid Edge, Creo, TeamCentre. Experience with design or operation of on-track or construction plant or similar heavy machinery. Strong ability in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be self-driven to move product life cycle forward. Behaviours The ability to predictably and regularly attend work. The ability to read and speak fluent English. The ability to read and understand basic design documents, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics, symbols, and related product drawings. KEY RESULT AREAS Timely reporting of machine reliability trends. Hands-on responsibility to investigate defect trends and identify solutions. Implement solutions to identified issues. Timely technical support to other departments as required. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Liaison with the customer (Network Rail SCO). Monthly reliability reporting using data from the maintenance system (FAMS). Development of minor machine modifications (service bulletins). Development of maintenance process changes (technical bulletins). To make design trade-offs to ensure lowest overall cost, highest reliability and best in class performance. Work with vendors to source and evaluate purchased components and with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies. Monitoring, analysis and reporting of safety-related defects. Engineering incident and failure investigations. Review of machine, sub-system and component safety and reliability. Engineering of solutions for machine safety and reliability issues. Review of maintenance processes and documentation. Other duties may apply as directed by Harsco management. Occasional travel required. Make safe any unsafe conditions where practical and challenge unsafe work practices. Inform your line manager, supervisor or health and safety representative of any unsafe occurrences.
