The candidate will work under the supervision and advice of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and Senior Residential Care Officer, to work sensitively as a team member in providing a warm, caring, enabling environment designed to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of looked after children and young people. The role of the Residential Care Officer is a demanding but rewarding opportunity to work alongside children and young people who will at times present behaviours which at times can be demanding. The role is a very rewarding and allows the worker to build positive relationships with some of the most complex children within residential care and help support the children and young people to stay safe and reach their full potential. You will be prepared to work within a rota primarily consisting of both mornings 7am-3pm and afters 2pm -10pm including weekends and bank holidays. Also be prepared to work 10pm-7am on waking nights duties depending on the specific needs of the care home. The applicant with experience may be asked to undertake sleep in duties as required to meet the needs of home. The worker must be highly motivated and willing to have some flexibility to covering shifts across the Children’s’ care homes. Be willing to advocate for children and demonstrate a “good parent role”.
