Job overview

The post holder will form part of the Renal Specialist Nurse team at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. The service manages over 600 dialysis patients across the Greater Manchester footprint. They will provide specialist expertise and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of the client group utilising evidence-based practice. They will contribute to clinical governance within the service by facilitating audit and research as part of the MDT within the specialist field. The post principle objectives are: To ensure all patients follow a vascular access pathway. Collaborative working with all multidisciplinary members to ensure positive outcomes for all vascular access patients. Main duties of the job

Leadership: Collaborative working with Surgical, Medical and Radiology staff with regards to patients, adhering to the 18-week vascular access pathway. Identify gaps in service provision and in agreement with the MDT implement changes required to improve service provision. Recognise, understand and accept the requirement to act as an advocate for patients, carers, service and organisation. Work closely with patients and staff driving evidence-based practice of cannulation. Define best practice in vascular access cannulation. Clinical Practice: Assess, plan and implement programmes of evidence-based care for client group, implementing the vascular access pathway. Ensure interventions are undertaken in line with best practice guidance. Act as a resource and provide advice, information and support to Trust staff caring for specific client group. Provide specialist advice and support to client group. Education, Development and Research: Support the Renal Education Team to develop and deliver specific and relevant specialist teaching programmes for all disciplines and grades of staff, client group, and carers within the Trust in relation to area of specialty. Demonstrate knowledge of current research in all aspects of their work and to advise others on the implementation of relevant research findings. Working for our organisation

Qualifications

Level 6 Renal course Experience

Minimum 2 years at Band 7 Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice Evidence of presentation at local regional and national level Demonstrate the ability to work in a highly demanding environment. Maintain development of clinical leadership skills. Evidence of diplomacy and organisation skills. You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
