About the Opportunity We are seeking a Research Analyst Volunteer to produce high-quality industry-specific compensation reports for multiple countries, starting with East Africa and expanding to other African markets. This role involves researching publicly available data, summarizing compensation trends, and presenting findings through detailed reports, white papers, and compelling visual presentations such as charts, graphs, and dashboards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data-driven storytelling and the ability to transform complex information into actionable insights. Duration Commitment of 2-3 hours per day. Remote Responsibilities Data Research and Collection

Research 2-3 industries for several countries where there is relevant public data. Research compensation and rewards data from public resources, including public company executive pay, such as annual financial reports. Capture and enter data into Excel sheets. Develop and maintain databases for storing total rewards data, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility. Review data to ensure accuracy and completeness. Document all activities.

Report Development with Data Analysis and Visualization

Interpret complex data sets to uncover underlying patterns, trends, and insights. Extract patterns and knowledge from datasets using techniques like clustering, classification, and association analysis. Write reports and white papers that summarize findings, methodologies, and statistical analyses, making recommendations based on data insights. Convey insights through both reports and visual presentations. Create visual representations of data findings through charts, graphs, and dashboards to make the data understandable at a glance and to support decision-making.

Perform other related duties related to data research and analysis as assigned and provide timely updates to Directors and team through project deliverables and participation in operational periodic meetings. Education and Experience Fluency in English (written and spoken). Undergraduate degree or equivalent education in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related area (preferred). Possess a solid foundation in data research and practical experience with statistical software (such as Excel) and experience in data analysis languages including SQL, Python, and R (minimum 2 years). Requirements Strong analytical and research skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with data visualization tools. Strong organizational skills, including prioritization, time management, and meeting deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and situations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain data integrity and handle confidential information with discretion and maintain high levels of professionalism and integrity. Availability to commit to a minimum of 12 hours per week. Responsiveness and comfort working remotely. Acquired Experience and Skills The Research Analyst Volunteer will have the opportunity to develop and gain expertise in understanding compensation and total rewards data analysis. You’ll develop proficiency in creating visual representations of data findings to enable data insights at a glance and understand the importance of attention to detail, consistency, and quick delivery. You will practice working remotely while collaborating with a small, dynamic team. By contributing to the success of an early-stage African tech startup, the volunteer will also build their professional network and potentially open up future career opportunities.
