Are you a Research and Development Engineer looking for a new challenge?

As part of a small engineering team, your day-to-day tasks will include designing, developing, and improving the portfolio, ensuring performance, health and safety, and quality standards are met. You will need to spend time working in collaboration with different departments within the company to drive product innovation. You will ensure products meet legislative requirements and update certification.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer who has a brand new 6 million pound facility in Stoke on Trent to utilise your problem-solving skills and attention to detail as a Research and Development Engineer.

The role as a Research and Development Engineer:

Design and develop new steel door products and improve existing designs using SolidWorks. Conduct product testing and performance analysis, researching new materials, technologies, and manufacturing techniques. Collaborate with production, quality, and sales teams to ensure seamless product integration. Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications and checking of test reports. Participate in prototype development and testing. Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle. Achieve product performance metrics such as fire resistance, durability, insulation, and security test results. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Log design defect rates. Ensure projects are delivered on time or ahead of schedule.

To be successful in this Research and Development Engineer's role you will need:

Proven experience in product design and development, preferably in steel or construction products. Proficient in SolidWorks; CWSP is preferred. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material properties, and quality standards. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. A good understanding of sheet metal fabrication machinery and production. Ability to report back to senior management. Experience in product design using sheet metal or other CNC production methods. Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel where required. A flexible approach.

The package on offer in this Research and Development Engineer's role:

Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm, Friday 7am - 1pm. Basic salary of GBP40,000. Paid holiday & company pension.
